Removing the Review Date

WooCommerce includes a built-in reviews system to allow customers to leave a review for the products they purchased.

It shows their comment, a rating from 1 to 5, the customer name and avatar, the review date and (if enabled) a label that indicates if the customer is a verified owner of that product.

Let’s talk more about the date. Imagine that you just moved from another platform to WooCommerce. All your reviews will probably show the current date instead of their original date. That would be annoying, so a solution would be to simply hide the review date.

How would you do that?

Removing the Footer Menu on Storefront Mobile Layout

Storefront is mainly an eCommerce theme, it is built by the developers of WooCommerce, for WooCommerce users.

But, it is a very customizable theme, so it can also be used in other ways. In example, I use it on this blog, without WooCommerce, and it still works perfectly. Many people use it with WooCommerce but only as a catalog, so customers are not able to buy products on the site, but just look at them.

In this last case, you probably don’t need the Cart and Checkout pages, so you remove them, but Storefront still shows a menu in the Footer area when you visit the site on a mobile device, and that menu leads you to the Cart page as well, which you removed.

How can you hide that menu when it is not needed?

Adding the Breadcrumbs to Storefront Without WooCommerce

If you, like me, are using Storefront without using WooCommerce, then you probably noticed that the breadcrumbs are not included by default.

This is because Storefront uses WooCommerce functions to print the breadcrumbs, before the content. But there’s another way to have that, with the plugin Yoast SEO.

WP Discord Post and WP Twitch Status Now Available on WordPress.org

In the last month I worked on two new plugins for WordPress that connect to Discord and Twitch to write a message in a Discord server’s channel when a new post is published on a site, and to get the status of a Twitch stream with a shortcode and/or a widget.

I worked on them live on my Twitch channel during two different Coding Day events, you can find the recordings in the Past Transmissions on Twitch.

I’m happy to announce that they are finally available on WordPress.org!
